Certainly a touch and go trip. After some fairly terrible weather of the past couple of weeks, it really got stormy over the weekend. We were forced to cancel Friday’s trip with our client Al due to thunderstorms, large swells and high winds offshore. We rescheduled Al for the following day instead with the hopes the horrendous weather would calm down by morning.

Saturday morning saw rain and dark clouds, but fortunately little wind. That morning we agreed with Al to go out for just a half day as opposed to his booked full day and basically see how the morning goes. Al agreed and we were off! That morning proved to be better than yesterday at least, but storm clouds did loom in the distance so the crew were less optimistic we could be out for the whole day.

We set the lines out regardless with hopes of snagging ourselves something on the way out. Fortunately luck was on our side because after just an hour we hooked our clients a decent sized sailfish. A quick response got Al in the fighting chair and it wasn’t long before we raised the fish. Below are some photos of that morning’s catch.

Al was also kind enough to leave us an excellent review of his experience on FishingBooker. Have a read of what he had to say about his trip.

The Rhino crew was awesome! Even though the day would be cut short due to an incoming storm, they attempted to help us check off a bucket list Pacific Sailfish. We were only able to fish for roughly an hour but we were able to catch the sailfish we were after!! If only we were able to fish all day, who knows what we would have caught. Thanks for a good time, we’ll definitely be back!!

All in all it turned out to be a successful morning even though we did have to cut it a little early due to the weather. We may not be able to control the weather, but we will certainly do all we can to ensure our clients have the best time on the Rhino Charger. We certainly do hope he does return to Tamarindo again so we can head out for a complete day of charter fishing.
