It was clear skies when the crew of the Rhino Charger set sails that morning. We had a James with his large group of 6 people that morning. The group was made up of him, his wife and four college aged adults on a big family charter trip. The had fished offshore a couple of times before but it was there first time in Costa Rica.
The morning was promising, even though our wet season had just begun, so we had high hopes for their 3/4 day trip. They were hoping for billfish and perhaps some fish for eating. We were upfront about their options and let them decide what to do next. They opted for offshore fishing with hopes of landing a billfish. Fortunately, that ended up paying off as we managed to land a very feisty sailfish. Our crew guided them through the catch and it wasn’t long before it was beside the boat and the cameras were out. This was a great trip with college kids. Captain and crew were upfront about our options and risk of fishing for sails and passing up easier catches, but that quickly paid off some nice sailfish on the line. They guided us through the catch took time to help us capture pics and add to the memories. Great trip overall!
We were glad that we were able to accommodate James and his family and managed to capture some excellent photos of their sailfish catch. All-in-in a good day of charter fishing and we hope they get to return to Tamarindo again soon!
